Army troops on Monday continued digging the snow with heavy machinery for the third day searching survivors of massive avalanche in Gayari sector of Siachen Glacier.
According to ISPR, 180 army men and 30 civilians were carrying out the rescue work. However, none of the missing men could be recovered after a huge snow slide engulfed a military complex, trapping 135 army troops and civilians under 80 feet snow.
Pakistani army spokesman Gen. Athar Abbas said in a interview that “the nation shall pray for the trapped soldiers.”
The US has sent a team of eight experts to Islamabad to provide technical assistance, said the Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement, adding that Pakistan will consult with the team to determine what help is needed to expedite the rescue operation.
Moreover, India has offered technical and humanitarian assistance to help search the people buried under massive snow mud.
