Rehman directs tight security for Islamabad

Interior Minister Rehman Malik Saturday directed the Islamabad inspector general police to further tighten the security of the federal capital and increase patrolling. He issued these directives chairing a high level meeting held here to review the law and order situation. The meeting was attended by IGP Islamabad, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, SSP (Operation Islamabad) and other senior officials. The minister also directed for strict checking on the entry and exit points and particularly tightening the security of Red Zone and Diplomatic Enclave. Rehman Malik appealed the citizens to cooperate with police and in case of witnessing any suspect or suspicious thing, inform the police for timely action. Earlier, IG Islamabad presented the report of gang rape in the jurisdiction of Shahzad Town police station. He said the police have arrested six accused including Khurram, Abdullah, Hassan, Asim, Shahzad and Waqas. Interior Minister Rehman Malik appreciated performance of IG Islamabad, SSP and their team.
