The PPP Co-Chairman President Asif Ali Zardari has felicitated the Christians on the eve of Easter and vowed to work for the promotion of human equality, religious tolerance and interfaith harmony.
The President assured the minorities that the policy of equality, freedom and security for all minorities, including Christians, as guaranteed in the Constitution and as promised by the Qauid-eAzam and Quaid-e-Awam will continue and that there will be no compromise on it.
The President also reiterated the pledge to safeguard the right of all minorities to freely profess and practice their religion.
He also paid tributes to Christian brothers and sisters as “law-abiding and loyal citizens”. He said that the nation was proud of their great contributions to the advancement and development of the country. The President said that Easter this year was most auspicious as for the first time in country’s history four members of minorities communities had been elected to the upper house on seats reserved for them. “Let us on this day dedicate ourselves to interfaith harmony and to the progress and prosperity of all sections of the society”, the message said.
Khushal Garh Bridge
construction in progress: Federal Minister for Communications Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan said that to date 27 percent progress has been achieved in construction of the Khushal Garh Bridge which is over and above the scheduled progress. Dr Arbab Alamgir Khan said this at the ground-breaking ceremony of the C&W Rest House at Khushal Garh in district Kohat. The C& W Rest house is being constructed in place of the old rest house which was demolished because it fell in the alignment of the new Khushal Garh Bridge. Cost of the Rest house is 4.6 million.
On the occasion, the Federal Minister was given a detailed briefing on the progress of the Construction of the Khushal Garh Bridge by General Manager Fazal Nawab Khattak.
He said that work on Rs 1.5 billion bridge is in full swing. Package 1 of the project consists of 2- Lane Bridge and 349 meters road. Length of Bridge is 373 meters. Completion time of this package is 24 months. Package 2 and 3 of the project comprise of approach roads on both sides of the bridge. These Packages are under process of approval.
Later, while talking to the media Federal Minister said that he is taking personal interest in the project as it is of prime importance for the people of southern region of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa. He said that we have achieved 27% progress in the first six months against the 7% scheduled progress and we are hopeful that it will be completed before time. Replying to a query Minister told that Package 2 and 3 are under process of land acquisition. NHA has released 1.1 million as land compensation on Kohat side while land acquisition on Punjab side is underway.
