Parliament being used as a shield to restore NATO supply route: Qureshi

Former Foreign Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Central Vice Chairman Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that the prime minister had stopped the NATO supplies through an executive order while parliament was being used as a shield to lift the ban.
Addressing a telephonic press conference of at Okara Press Club here on Saturday, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the Pak-US relations were already under strain and Washington should not have raised the issue of Hafiz Saeed while the response of the Pakistani Foreign Office was also inappropriate.
He said the prime minister should inform the nation for what reasons NATO supplies were stopped and on what assurances these were being restored. He said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman got out of the PCNS because the government was using parliament as a shield to restore the NATO supplies.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said President Zardari made wrong and inappropriate remarks about the burial of Mian Mohammad Sharif, father of Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif, at a time when the prime minister was requesting the Sharif
brothers to return to the PCNS.
On the other hand, the PTI leader said there is difference between the statements of Mian Nawaz Sharif and Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan. He pointed out that Mian Saheb is linking restoration of NATO supply route with an end to drone attacks while Chaudhry Nisar was speaking on opposite line.
To a question, Qureshi said the US unnecessarily raised Hafiz Saeed’s issue and it would have to present proof which could stand in the court of law. He said perhaps the US would not be able to do so.
