The Punjab Health Department has issued appointment orders for the recruitment of 691 medical officers, including female medical officers, in different government hospitals of the province.
These doctors included 436 post graduate trainees as well.
A Health Department spokesman has said the appointment notifications have been sent to the EDOs (Health) of all the districts concerned, as well as the medical superintendents of the teaching hospitals.
The spokesman has asked the newly recruited doctors to receive their posting orders from their concerned EDO (Health) or the teaching hospitals’ administration.
The spokesman hoped that by the induction of nearly 700 new doctors in the healthcare system, the provision of treatment facilities provided to patients in the public sector hospitals would be improved.
