The Commissioner of Karachi, Roshan Ali Shaikh, has urged teachers to make an extra effort in developing a positive image of themselves and to turn their personalities into a role model for students.
Addressing the participants of the annual graduation ceremony of the Pak-Turkey International School, he said that quite often young students put their teachers above their parents and it is a sacred responsibility of the teachers to respect the confidence of their pupils.
“You ought to inculcate the principles of honesty, discipline and dignity among your pupils,” said the commissioner.
Shaikh said that the government is committed to providing quality education and healthcare facilities at the grassroots level.
“The fact that this is among the top priorities of the government is well evident through the network of government schools and health centres in the country,” he added.
The Principal of the school, Mest Kaemaz, said on the occasion that the ceremony was being attended by around 400 students, their parents, country representative of the Pak-Turkey International Schools Ali Kiran and country representative of the Turkish Airlines Huseyin Cepni.
The commissioner presented the Best Parents Award for 2011 and 2012 to Syed Kamran, father of Ahmed Kamran and Shahab Kamran.
The Best Teacher Award was conferred upon Azhar Wazir from the English department and Mehboob Ali bagged the Best Student Award.
