I have always opposed privatisation on various grounds but my recent visit to the PTCL Customer Facilitation Cell has changed all my thoughts. The changes brought about by the privatisation of PTCL, once a white elephant, needs due appreciation.
I happened to visit a PTCL Customer Facilitation Cell located in Islamabad after a lapse of around 3 years. I was astonished to see the dedicated, facilitating and cordial environment. The first thought that came to my mind βIs this really the PTCL that I have known for so long?β
The shabby building, rude staffers, and manual tasks were replaced with AC equipped, clean office, a helpful and considerate staff with all modern gadgets at their disposal. The complaint which I thought could have taken my whole day and probably weeks to resolve was looked into considerately and resolved within minutes.
The post-privatization PTCL is a new breed indeed with changes so impressive that it has rightfully earned all the appreciation for its services and a happy customer.
