President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday launched a scathing attack on opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shahbaz Sharif, saying they were ‘mohajirs’ in Lahore and were enjoying power because of his Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
Addressing a gathering of PPP workers at the Governor’s House here, Zardari, who is the co-chairman of PPP, took swipes at the Sharif brothers and said they had “no political future”. Zardari further said: “Lahore is not a stronghold of the Sharifs and we will prove this in the coming elections”. Lahore is PPP’s city and the Sharif brothers were living there as “mohajirs” (migrants), he said. “We know how brave the Sharif brothers are. They have no political future”. In a stinging personal attack, Zardari said the brothers could not muster enough followers for the “funeral of their father”. “The Sharifs did not even have enough shoulders to carry the funeral of their father. The dead body of Mian Sharif had to be taken to Data Darbar,” said Zardari. The Sharifs were in exile in Saudi Arabia when their father died and his burial was done under strict security arrangements put in place by the former military regime of Pervez Musharraf. Zardari claimed the “shine that the Sharif brothers have” was given by him and that he could “take it away any time”. He said the PPP would form the government in Punjab, the country’s most populous province, after winning the 2013 elections. The PPP will contest the next election in Punjab with its coalition partner, the PML-Q, he said.
He contended that the PPP “has votes while other parties have candidates and hollow slogans”. He said the PPP would continue rendering its services to the people in the next tenure. He said Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto had laid their lives for the sake of democracy, and that the entire world pays tribute to them.
He said the government would give “real relief” to the people and traders in the next budget. “The problem of load shedding will be resolved within three months,” he announced. As Zardari continued his tirade against the Sharifs, he went on to say that the PPP had established the “politics of reconciliation” in the country by following the vision of Benazir Bhutto, while strengthening democracy in the country. He said the PPP would continue its policy of reconciliation.
Reacting to the attack, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said Zardari had resorted to a “lowly act”.
“If Zardari describes the Sharif brothers as migrants, then he is surely unaware of the results of the past four elections,” said Sanaullah. “It seems like he (Zardari) has gone mad. He can foresee that he is going to face terrible consequences, which is why he is making such statements,” he added. Zardari, who has rarely been seen in public in recent months, is in Lahore to interact with PPP workers for the first time in almost two years. Though he made a visit to the city last year to meet the family of slain Punjab governor Salmaan Taseer, he did not meet party workers at the time. When Zardari arrived in the provincial capital on Wednesday, he was not received by officials or ministers of the PML-N government.

  1. This man only got in, because his wife died. Otherwise he would be nannying the kids in Dubai. Let's face it, which man in Pakistan would allow his kids to be named after their mother's father….

  2. You killed your wife last time to get in. Who are you going to kill this time? Your son or your daughters?

  3. he can say this because he knew about our nation
silly stupid nation ….they dont know about the vote power
haram zade ek vote saih tarah nee de sakte
    hazrat zardari nee thek kah

  4. I love it!!!! I'd like to see this animosity towards each other go to the extreme 🙂 sharif brothers brought it upon themselves by supporting zardari's so called democracy. They were hoping that zardari would fail and they would take the turn to rule the country. That little slime ball has out smarted them 🙂 As stupid as the sharif brothers have been, I'm glad that we are finding this out before the next election so we don't vote for another set of idiots 🙂 I love it.

  5. I don't see PPP, PML(N) or any other party victorious in the coming election. The only party which seems to have the edge to win it all is PTI. Imran Khan's PTI will win the coming elections. Now from the cities the PTI fever is spreading over the small towns and villages. By the time the elections will take place PTI will be able to win in Punjab, Khyber NWFP, SIND and Baluchistan. People of the country gave seceral chances to all the parties in the past and now the change has to take place and it will come through PTI and Imran Khan. Yes, PPP and PML(N) will win some seats but will sit in the opposition and serve the country in a constructive manner like ZAB and BB.

  6. After reading all the comments above, one can judge their value by taking into consideration the foul element in them. But if anybody makes a realistic analysis of the way things stand, the chances are PPP will again win next elections.

  7. Guys! Whatever you say! He has proven himself to be the greatest politician of the time. He out-classed everyone be it Army, be it establishment, be it PML(N), you name it. It is sad but true that you will watch PPP forming Next Government!

  9. Look President Zardari, show some diginity! You are indulging in gutter politics. let me explain this first. I was the first one to criticize the Sheriff brothers esp Shabaz when he was threatning to drag you by the throat in the streets of lahore. I called your silence
Presidential. How wrong was i !
Your snub to the Shariff brothers regarding the funeral of their beloved father was both insensitive and uncalled for. Surely you know that they could not attend and their followers had be careful because they were living under the repressive regime of
Mushrraf.Did you have to refer to a dead soul to score points. You became a president thanks to a dead soul. I thought you were different how wrong was i . It seems most of the politicians in Pakistan are cut from the same cloth. A president is a beacon of hope for his country. People turn to him in needs of sorrow and not to be criticised. Mr President you are badly advised. Good tour to India!

Musharraf. Do you have to refer to dead soul to score points. You became a president
thanks to a dead soul. I now underastand Politicians in Pakistan are cut from the same cloth—i thought wrongly you were different. Good journey to India.

  10. Shame on such president by insulting all the Punjabis by making in line with the very "shareefs". Its Punjab generosity that they can elect a Kashmiri as so called leaders. Punjab doesnt belong to them. But on the same note as president of Pakistan doesnt have to make any difference between a Punjabi or a Sindhi! your views speaks for itself, you surely doesnt deserve to be President of Pakistan, thanks to death of BB and bhutto that Pakistanis have to see such person as their president.
People of Pakistan should wake up and get rid of these thugs sharifs and madaris and elect simple and ordinary people not millionaires. Rule yourself, enough turns of these thugs!

  11. The political scene is set like that outcome of coming elections in 2013 will be nothing else but success for PPP and President Zardari will be the president for next 5 years. Right of vote to people and about to complete 5 years of democritic rule is the biggest performance of PPP.
