Tuesday, Central Coordinator of PPP Human Rights cell Dr. Nafisa Shah, Secretary General Sheikh Mansur and members Shahjahan Sarfaraz, Rubina Qaimkhani, Dr. Zile Huma and Shazia Tehmas have hailed President Asif Ali Zardari’s decision to send the ZAB reference under Article 189 to the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
“Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had planned to approach the courts for vindication of the great democratic leader, and by doing so, the President has not only followed her footsteps but also he responded to the will of the people of Pakistan,” they maintained.
Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto gave the people of this country rights, in the form of the Constitution of 1973, they said and added that Bhutto Shaheed was denied of his fundamental right of a fair trail.
“It was a glaring case of an unfair trial, where at every step, justice was denied,” said the Central Coordinator Dr. Nafisa Shah. “We hope that the revising of the case is not made victim of delay and also hope that this historical wrong would be corrected by the courts, not only to redeem Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, but the justice system of this country.
This nation needs good news, and this would certainly be one – and would lead to strengthening of democracy,” She added. The PPP HR Cell members further recalled that the courts have been used historically to validate the suspensions of law and by doing so, made all acts of omission of the dictators legally valid, and more importantly exposed the people to abuse of their fundamental rights. “Now, as the courts are independent, the people expect justice for the great leader,” noted the members, and decided to visit the Court regularly, once the hearing of ZAB case resumes.

  1. Yea they have a voice but does anybody hear them. Unfortunately for Pakistan, we make petty criminals and murderers our heroes to the point of almost worshipping them. Just because someone is dead does not automatically make them a shaheed. Why is it that ppp is the only party who has "shaheeds"? After 33 years of his death, ppp is still capitalizing on his Roti, Kapra aur Makaan slogan and the people today are further away from these things than they have ever been in their lifetime. If a party cannot deliver even after 33 years, then makes you wonder about their capabilities.
