Ending load shedding, the ‘mitti pao’ way!

PML-Q President Senator Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Monday presented a simple formula to end load shedding in the country. Unfolding the formula while talking to journalists at his Gulberg residence, Shujaat said that the installed power generation capacity in the country was 23,000MWs against which 15,000MWs were being produced daily, adding that the remaining power plants were either closed or producing less electricity against their installed capacity for want to resources to meet oil and other requirements for power plants.
The PML-Q president said that under the NFC Award, provinces were to get another total amount of Rs 50 billion during the remaining three months of the present financial year. He said if the federation deducts this amount for the remaining three months and allocate the same amount to power plants then there was no reason why load shedding was not fully eliminated in cities and its duration also reduced in rural areas considerably. Shujaat said if provincial governments cooperate with the federation then this problem can easily be solved in this manner.
The senator said that success of this simple formula depends on the large heartedness and positive thinking of all chief ministers.
He said as a result of this, mills would start working again, unemployment would be reduced to a great extent, protesting workers would restart working on their machines and national economy would start getting better and growing. The PML-Q president said that a full-fledged campaign should be launched against incidents of power thefts and it should be enforced forcefully so that honest electricity consumers were not unnecessarily over-burdened and their bills reduced, adding that this would be a step in the right direction and go a long way in improving the national economy.
He said that the PML-N’s protest was wrong and unjustified, adding that the PML-Q was the well-wisher of the people and ally of the government due to which it was giving a formula to end outages.
Earlier, MNA Omar Sibghatuillah Rashdi, son of Pir Pagara Sibghatullah Rashdi along with Makhdoom Ali Akbar called on Shujaat and Senior Federal Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi at their residence.
