Court summons police, Rangers chiefs

Hearing suo moto notice of the fresh unrest in Karachi, the Sindh High Court, on Monday, issued summons to Inspector General (IG) Sindh and Director General Rangers to appear before the court.
Chief Justice SHC, Justice Mushir Alam heard the case, ordering the two key officials to appear before the jury on April 18 and submit a report on the frequent shutdowns and incidents of violence in Karachi that have left about 40 people dead since Monday.
Over 50 vehicles have been set on fire during the days of ‘mourning’ announced by MQM and ANP. Earlier, violence prevailed in the metropolitan of Karachi as at least six people including a woman were shot dead overnight in different incidents across the city, sources said on Monday.
Sources also stated that the violent incidents occurred in Sohrab Goth, Bin Qasim, Saddar, Sachal, North Nazimabad, Gulshan Iqbal and Boat Basin areas of the city resulting in the killing of five people while several others were injured. Sindh Government has ordered a thorough inquiry regarding the gun-fight.
