The Director General, Punjab Emergency Service 1122 Dr. Rizwan Naseer said on Monday that the emergency service has rescued around 32957 victims in the 36 cities of Punjab in the month of March .
The emergency calls to which Rescue 1122 responded includes 13040 road traffic accidents, 17934 medical emergencies, 908 fire incidents, 46 building collapse incidents, 1588 crime, 59 drowning Incidents, 104 special rescue operations mostly animal rescue and 18 explosions.
These 33697 rescue operations in the month of March, 2012 includes 6741 rescue operations in Lahore, 3182 in Faisalabad, 2654 in Multan, 2068 in Gujranwala, 1344 in Bahawalpur, 1080 in Rawalpindi, 1220 in Dera Ghazi Khan, 1136 in Sargodha, 780 in Rahim Yar Khan, 1079 in Sahiwal, 960 in Sialkot, 290 in Murree, 1105 in Jhang, 405 in Toba Tek Singh, 627 in Muzafargarh, 410 in Rajanpur, 384 in Mianwali, 555 in Pakpattan, 634 in Kasur, 379 in Gujrat, 515 in Bahawalnagar, 282 in Jehlum, 555 in Attock, 546 in Khanewal, 396 in Vehari, 276 in Chakwal, 633 in Okara, 327 in Hafizabad, 616 in Sheikhupura, 576 in Lodhran, 313 in Nankana Sahib, 281 in Khushab, 285 in Mandibaha-ud-din, 338 in Narowal, 305 in Layyah and 420 in Bhakkar.
The Director General, Dr. Rizwan Naseer urged District Emergency Officers to evolve a strategy to effectively handle increasing number of emergencies cases.
He requested people to call in case of major accident and critical emergency only. He also requested citizens to avoid calling 1122 in minor incidents as it will help to provide services to genuine emergency victims in a effective way.
