The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued notices to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) director general (DG) and others after a petition alleging an FIA inspector was harassing the petitioner.
Justice Noorul Haq Qureshi was hearing the case in which the petitioner, Majid Jahangir, though his counsel, contended that there was civil litigation between him and a person, Muhammad Akram, while a suit was also filed in the civil court on the same issue. He further alleged a Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) official contacted him and told him that a complaint was pending before him and he (FIA official) wanted to meet him.
The petitioner told the court that the act of the agency official was unlawful as he could not approach the petitioner without any proper notice. He added that the FIA official started harassing him on phone and the petitioner feared that he could also become another missing person. He said as the FIA officials was not adopting the proper channels to approach him, he feared that he could be kidnapped like other missing persons. However, the court issued notices to the FIA officials, including its director general (DG) and sought comments from them on the matter.

This was stated by inspector general of Islamabad police, Bani Amin Khan, while distributing uniforms among police officials and jawans on the advent of summer season. DIG (Headquarters) Ahmed Mukarram, AIG (Establishment) Asharaf Zubair Siddiqui, SSP (Headquarters) Zubair Ahmed Hashmi, DSPs Abdur Razaq, Sabir Shah, Bakhtiar Ahmed Lillah and other police officials were also present on the occasion.
The IGP said that quality education would be ensured for the children of Islamabad policemen while several other projects, including their health insurance and life insurance were being started. He said kith and kin of martyred personnel were given cheques for their education and house rent so that they could not feel themselves alone and avoid any kind of financial inconvenience. The IGP appreciated the overall performance of the Islamabad police as well as Islamabad traffic police (ITP) and said the ITP had become role model for other law-enforcement agencies due to hard work and dedication of its personnel.
He also called for effective coordination among various wings of Islamabad police to gain more success against criminal elements.
