Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and the State Life Insurance Corporation Pakistan (SLIC) have inked an agreement for three years from 2012 to 2015 to ensure 4.1 million breadwinners of BISP’s beneficiary families. Besides Chairperson BISP, Madame Farzana Raja and Chairman SLIC, Mr. Shahid Siddiqi, Secretary BISP and Mr. Sher Khan were also present on the occasion. The signing ceremony has been signed at the completion of one year (2011) agreement for 2.03 million breadwinners of BISP beneficiary families between the two organizations and as an extension of the same coverage for another three years (2012 -2015). Madame Farzana Raja on the occasion appreciated the role of State Life Insurance Company in the success of the scheme which is an added social protection intervention launched by BISP for pro-poor approach. Chairperson BISP said that the scheme is part of the vision of BISP aims at helping the dependant’s (mother, wife, children, sister) of deceased at the time of distress with the compensation of rupee 100,000 within the period of 30 days as a economic shelter which is being given first time in the history of Pakistan. The scheme would be applicable on the beneficiary families of BISP across Pakistan.
