Punjab Assembly adopts resolution against energy crisis

The Punjab Assembly on Friday unanimously adopted a resolution against the energy crisis. The assembly, in its resolution, called for equitable distribution of electricity among all provinces. Talks were held between the Opposition and the representatives of the Punjab government for moving a unanimous resolution against the energy crisis. Opposition Leader Raja Riaz attended talks with the Punjab government representatives and reviewed nine points of the resolution.
The opposition demanded that the objectionable points of the resolution should be removed. Opposition further demanded that the resolution should not give any impression that the federal government was doing injustice with the Punjab government regarding distribution of electricity. It had been demanded in the resolution that the distribution of electricity among the provinces should be based on justice and issue of the circular debt and should be resolved within a month. The resolution further demanded that the projects of gas pipeline with Iran and import of LNG should be implemented on an urgent basis and this gas should be utilized only for industry and power generation.
