Former Minister for Law and Justice Senator Babar Awan suffered another unexpected but serious blow when the government on Saturday removed him from Parliamentary Committee on National Security and appointed former Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira in his place.
When the meeting of the parliamentary committee began on Saturday, Qamar Zaman Kaira requested for attending the meeting in place of Babar Awan informing the committee that the government appointed him as committee member.
The meeting was chaired by committee chairman Senator Raza Rabbani and attended by its members including Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Ishaq Dar and others.
The PCNC, according to sources considered in detail some of the reservations of the opposition members so that the Parliament could pass a consensus resolution about terms of re-engagement with the US and NATO.
PPP sources said it was the second shock for the former Law Minister in a week as a few days back his right hand man Masood Chishti and brother Farooq Awan were removed from the Ministry of Law.
