The US government and health care professionals from all over Pakistan on Thursday celebrated the successful completion of a five-year $48 million training programme for healthcare providers. The project, ‘Family Advancement for Life and Health (FALAH), trained nearly 27,000 health professionals and reached more than 50 million people through its public educational outreach, claimed a press release issued here by the US embassy.
“The FALAH project is a strong example of the US government’s long-term commitment to support Pakistan to improve the health and welfare of its people,” said USAID Deputy Director for Pakistan, Karen Freeman, at the closeout seminar for the FALAH project.
In Pakistan, a mother dies giving birth to her child every three minutes. According to medical professionals, one of the major causes of this tragedy is the poor timing of pregnancies. Poor birth timing leaves women and children vulnerable to diseases and untimely death.
