US Senate urges Iran to free Bahai leaders

The US Senate has urged Iran to free jailed leaders of the Bahai faith and urged sanctions against officials in the Islamic Republic over treatment of the religion’s followers. In a resolution approved by voice vote late Thursday, the Senate said it “condemns the government of Iran for its state-sponsored persecution of its Bahai minority and its continued violation of the International Covenants on Human Rights.” The Bahais, whose faith was founded in Iran two centuries ago, have faced persecution both before and after the 1979 Islamic revolution. The clerical regime bars Bahais from higher education and government posts. The resolution urged Iran to free seven Bahai leaders given 20-year prison terms in 2010 on charges that included “spying” for Israel. The Bahai global headquarters, which predates the Jewish state’s 1948 creation, is in Haifa. The Senate urged President Barack Obama’s administration to “sanction officials of the government of Iran and other individuals directly responsible for egregious human rights violations in Iran, including against the Bahai community.” Obama in September 2010 announced that the United States would freeze assets of Iranian officials over human rights violations and took action against eight, largely over the crackdown on opposition protests a year earlier. The Obama administration’s chief focus, however, has been on halting Iran’s nuclear program which critics of Tehran say is aimed at building an atom bomb. The Bahais consider Bahaullah, born in 1817, to be the latest prophet sent by God and believe in the spiritual unity of all religions and all mankind. There are more than seven million Bahais worldwide, including 300,000 in Iran, community leaders say.

  1. Shame on Pakistani Media. Instead of publishing this biased news article you must have published 'how the America is using the Baha'i issue to pressurizing Iran?'

Do you know what are the latest statistics as per the latest Human Rights report :
In a report submitted to the Special Rapporteur, it was alleged that 474 Baha’is had been arrested since August 2004. Of that number, 97 were currently imprisoned (see annex, table IV); 199 had been released on bail and were awaiting trial; 26 had been released without bail; 96 had been tried and sentenced, and free pending appeal or summons to begin serving their sentences; 34 had been tried and sentenced and had completed their prison terms and/or paid a fine; 14 sentences had been overturned on appeal; and 5 Baha’is had served their prison sentences and begun their terms of internal exile. An additional 35 arrests were reportedly made between August and November 2011.

And these Baha'is are not persecuted but prosecuted… and not because of their Belief but because of some or the other crime committed by them. Otherwise there are more than 300000 Baha'is in Iran living freely and most of them are very wealthy with lots of powerful of contacts in Western Countries.

America and Its allies should answer about their Human rights violations. How many have been murdered by them in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Africa, Libya, Syria, Palestine, Iran? What is the figure? And what atmosphere they have created for the muslims throughout the world.

  2. This is just like the leaders of one of the "Dangerous Extremest Islamic Banned outfit" being jailed for 10000 days and their followers demanding release for them. No way… No country will play with its security. The Baha'is are security issue for Country like Iran, infact they are a severe threat for all the muslim countries.

  3. So, what does the Baha’i Faith teach?:
“My first counsel is this: Possess a pure, kindly and radiant heart, that thine may be a sovereignty ancient, imperishable and everlasting.”
    (Baha’u’llah, The Arabic Hidden Words)
Wow, that’s shocking! Well, we can’t very well have people running around loose in Iran with pure, kindly and radiant hearts. Better stamp out the buggers!

  4. Definitely that's one teaching and if these type of teachings are not there then who is going to accept this cult? Most of the people accept this cult looking at its face value, which is very innocent and good! But internally this is a dangerous NWO cult and now a days even the westerners feel that the activities of the Baha'i cult should be closely monitored. Even there is an open contract between Baha'u'llah and the Zionists that this cult will not taught in their country. So, Baha'is are there in Israel but they do not teach any Israeli Citizen. Also they do not take any declaration card in Israel. They do not convert Jews anywhere. They have material to convert the Christians, Muslims and Hindus but they do not have any material in Hebrew to convert any Jewish person anywhere in the world.
I will state some more teachings of Husein Ali Baha here.
Whoever burns a House intentionally, burn him.
Whoever kills a person with intent, kill him.
I am the God, there is not god other than me.
Those who do not believe in my covenant should ask their mothers about their being Halalzadeh.
Those who turn away from me will be degraded and will be punished a severe punishment.
There is much more junk available on the internet which any body with a little googling can find it.

Regarding the political benefits the imperialist countries are getting from the Baha'is are many, the world can see how the Americans and the Britishers are taking full fledged advantage from the Baha'is.
