Protests against power outages and excessive bills continued in the city and on Wednesday, the protestors attacked a customer care centre of Lahore Electric Supply Company in Township. The protesters in Township area protested against Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA) in electricity bills and refused to pay them. They requested the officials at Customer Service Centre for redressing their problem but were refused help by LESCO. Infuriated, the protesters got angry and attacked the office. They said there was no electricity and even then they were getting huge, unaffordable bills. They then attacked the centre and were only brought into control after the police were called.
Traders in different areas of the city also protested against the outages. At The Mall, the traders protested against unscheduled load shedding. Similarly in Mughalpura, Mustafabad, Wahdat Road and other areas people came on the roads against outages.
The load shedding remained high in every part of the city despite tall claims of PEPCO. The PEPCO officials said that shortfall had come down to 3,100MW but even then there was no respite for the consumers, which suffered more than 16 hours of outages. There was no schedule of load shedding and power was closed down at any given time in the day.
