Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said that government and its coalition partners were responsible for worsening law and order situation in Karachi.
Talking to media persons in Khanewal, the former prime minister said that the PML-N has no armed wing. He said that extortion and no-go-areas in Karachi were new terms introduced during the tenure of the incumbent government.
“This is product of current rulers who are collecting money for their next generations and law and order has no importance in the eye of rulers” Nawaz added.
He said that Supreme Court has pinpointed that all the political parties have their armed wings except the PML-N.
Replying to a question regarding load-shedding, he said that Punjab was worst affected. He said that he supported Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s stance to take to streets against the prolonged outages in the province that even cross over 20 hours.
He said that a chief minister could raise voice against the injustice of federation with his province.
Nawaz favoured the idea of importing electricity from India at suitable tariff. Quoting historical reference, he said that once India was interested to purchase electricity from Pakistan but circumstances have diametrically changed to dangerous extent.
He said that the government was least concerned with the progress and prosperity of the country; rather rulers have put the country in difficult situation where there is no hope for the common man to survive.
Nawaz said whenever the country was on the path of development, dictators stepped in and removed the democratic government.
