In a major political blow to the PML-Q, Amir Muqam has decided to join the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and a formal announcement would be made on April 6 in a press conference. The decision was made in a meeting between Muqam and PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif at his residence in Raiwind, Lahore, which was attended by PML-N KPK President Pir Sabir Shah, party senior members Sardar Mehtab Khan Abbasi and PML-N General Sectary Iqbal Zafar Jagra.
Several news channels reported last night that PML Q president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain dissolved the party set up in KP, reportedly following tensions between Muqam and Shujaat after the party refused to award a Senate ticket to Muqam. After a series of consultation, Muqam was on the verge of joining the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, but his meeting with PTI chief Imran Khan bore no fruit. Also, party workers from Malakand and Swat were not in favour of the merger. Muqam called on the PML-N chief on Wednesday and expressed full confidence in his leadership.
