In an apparent bid to preempt any move by PML-Q Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Amir Muqam to join the PML-N, PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain late on Tuesday dissolved the party’s provincial chapter. The decision was taken after a nod by the party’s parliamentary party after a detailed meeting held here. The decision was taken in view of successive media reports suggesting Muqam was planning to join either PML-N or the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf. On the other hand, Muqam termed the decision a violation of the party’s constitution and said Shujaat had no such powers to abolish an elected body.
He said he had summoned the party’s emergent meeting of the KP chapter to thrash out a future plan of action. Muqam had developed differences with the party leadership after being given a meaningless ministerial slot and had repeatedly claimed to resign. He even had informed Shujaat that he would follow the party’s provincial chapter’s decision to either join the PTI or the PML-N.
