Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that financial discipline and good governance have been promoted in the province by reducing non-developmental expenditure.
He expressed these views while addressing a seminar on “Medium Term Fiscal Framework” held at CM’s Secretariat on Tuesday. The seminar was arranged with the collaboration of Punjab Resource Management Programme and Planning and Development Department.
The CM said special attention had been paid towards financial discipline and curtailing non-developmental expenditure in the province. However, he said, the industrial sector was facing problems due to inadequate energy resources and load-shedding.
He said Punjab plays a key role in the national economy but unfortunately it was facing serious problems due to power crisis.
Similarly, he said, export orders worth billions of rupees were being cancelled due to power shutdown to industries.
He said the government was striving for the provision of additional energy resources and working on the projects of generating electricity from coal, bagasse, solar power and other resources.
Earlier, economic Advisor of Punjab government Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha gave a detailed briefing regarding medium term fiscal framework, challenges faced by developmental issues, comparative study of the growth of textile industry, provision of energy resources, acquisition of additional resources for development projects and development priorities.
Khurram Dastagir and secretaries of Finance, Health, Labour and Planning and Development departments also spoke at the occasion.
How has Hafeez Pasha's wife Ayesha Ghaus landed herself this job? The Punjab Government is a profligate spender on non budgetted items. The Danish schools project is being handled by a 69 year old former bureaucrat whose speciality is interior decoration. God help us !!
