Police use tear gas shells on protesting nurses

Police on Wednesday used water cannon and tear gas shells against nurses protesting outside the Karachi Press Club for rise in payments.
Calling for government allowances and promotions, the paramedical staff, including hundreds of nurses, from the Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center (JPMC) and other hospitals gathered under the auspicious Provincial Nurses Association outside the KPC.
The riot police barred the demonstrators from moving towards the neighboring Governor House, using the powerful hose and firing teargas shells to disperse the protesting nurses.
Scores of nurses fell unconscious when police baton charged them after using the water cannon.
