Maulana Ahmed Ludhianvi released after brief arrest

Senior leader of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jammat (ASWJ) Maulana Ahmed Ludhianvi was released by Islamabad police on Wednesday after intervention by senior politicians.
According to details, capital police had taken Maulana Ahmed Ludhianvi into custody for violating section 144 imposed in the city.
He was shifted to I-9 police station, Islamabad where supporters of the leader staged a sit-in outside the police station demanding the release of their leader.
Later after successful negotiations between the leaders and the police administration Maulana Ahmed Ludhianvi was set free.
The release came after talks between former federal minister Ijaz-ul-Haq, Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman Khalil, Haji Ghulam Mustafa, Abdullah Gill and former MNA Mian Aslam negotiated on the behalf of ASWJ leader, and Interior Minister Rehman Malik along with police officials of the federal capital.
It is worth mentioning that the capital police on Tuesday night set up special check posts at the entry and exit points of the capital to nab some of the Defence of Pakistan Council leaders. As a result the commuters suffered for hours because the traffic was diverted while at police pickets there were long queues.
