Marathon emerge as National Bridge Champions

In the 2012 Kayseria National Bridge Championship contested at the Gymkhana Bridge tables over five days, the ultimate champions turned out to be Precision Marathon who captured the national title for 2012 by successfully overpowering JK 1V in the finals yesterday through consistency and excellence in team work. The defeat was a bit of a shock for JK1V and what made it a little agonising was the fact that Marathon beat them in all the four segments.For Precision Marathon Tehsin Gheewala was outstanding all through the final and used his skills and experience effectively.
This bridge champion of repute has been a member of the winning team in all the past two years,2010 and 2011,adding a third one to his tally, and stated that his fellow team members Hasan Askari, Farrukh Liaqat, Khaled Mohiuddin, Muhammed Puri and Junaid Said have been superb. In the four segments the scores were 47-24 imps, 27-19 imps, 31-26 imps and 31-26 imps, all in favour of Precision Marathon.
The runners up team comprised of Tahir Abbas, Saeed Akhtar, Mirza Shauq Hussain, Javed Khalid, Masood Mazhar and Fehmina Shauq. By virtue of this victory and by virtue of being the national bridge champions for 2012, this team will represent Pakistan in all the international forums and bridge competitions during 2012. At the conclusion of the event, Tehsin Gheewala was all praise for the team of Hamza Liaqat, Salman Qasim, Qasim Rahim and Mudasir for the live broadcast of semifinals and finals with the help of VU Graph system on BBO(Bridge Base Online).And equally competent was Saim Siddique of Karachi Bridge Association who operated the bridge mate equipment that kept updated scores and aggregate results. The winning team was honored by Khalid Rafiq, Convenor of Lahore Gymkhana over their winning performance.
