Hockey tourney held for polio awareness

Fatima-Shah Muhammad Memorial Hockey Tournament was held at Chak 73/RB Karianwala, Faisalabad. Theme of the tournament was “Make Pakistan Polio Free/End Polio Now.” Kanga team won the final against Paradise Hockey Club by 1-0 and received the Winning trophy and Rs. 15,000 cash while Paradise Hockey team received the Runners Up trophy and Rs. 10,000 cash. Shahbaz from Kanga team was declared Man of the Match while Rizwan from Paradise Hockey Club was declared Man of the Tournament. Lt Gen Ch Sardar Ali, Col Nawab Ali and Mukhtar Ahmed were the chief guests at the Final match. Both team were presented polio awareness Wall Clocks and t-shirts. The tournament was organized by Rotary’s Past District Governor Shehzad Ahmed and Paradise Coordinator Naeem Aslam under the arrangements of Paradise Hockey Club and Rotary Club of Lahore Garrison. A Polio Awareness Walk was held before the start of the final match. The participants, mostly children, were informed about the importance of polio eradication. It was also stressed that all children less than five years of age should be administered polio drops at each National Immunization Day (NID) campaign. Pencils with polio message were distributed among the children. Earlier, sewing machines and ration was distributed among deserving families in the village.
