HELLO! Magazine and SHOWCASE kick off fashion event

SHOWCASE 2012 was held in collaboration with HELLO! Magazine, internationally acclaimed designer Rizwan Beyg and Sky Productions, to create a platform where young designers, models, musicians, photographers, event planners and all those who work in fashion can hone their talent. The first edition of HELLO! Pakistan will feature SHOWCASE 2012. Day one of SHOWCASE 2012 started with the presence of Aminah Sheikh, Farieha Altaf, Zahir Rehimtoolah, Zeenat Sayeed Ahmed, Fareshte Aslam and many more in attendance. The designers who showcased their collections on the first day of the show were: Zaheer Abbas: presented “Revenge” which is inspired by vintage armour and based in silk with hints of chiffon, with a diverse palate. Danish Wakeel: A London-based designer, Wakeel showcased his ‘Draped Modern Kouroi’-a silhouette-hugging style of exclusive custom fitting clothing. AIFD: SHOWCASE also presented a capsule collection of 5 young student designers, FAB5, under the tutelage of Zaheer Abbas. Warda Lawn: The brand’s collection were based on embroideries, delicate ribbon work, diamantes and scalloped edged ‘dupatta’s’ and ‘chikankari. Irfan Ali: Based his collection on the rich festival culture of the Punjab. Sanya Maskatiya: presented The Matyala collection, drawing inspiration from the figurative and ritualistic wall and floor Mithila Art found in the districts of Bihar and Nepal. Hira Lari: presented an extensive range of solid colored Georgette tops, coordinated with various bottoms in order to create a diverse look. Arugam Bay: Sri Lankan designer Ajai Vir Singh’s collection was all about chaotic colours, inspired by everyday objects and not by the book. Nida Azwer: presented “Parinda”, the design house’s semi formal collection for Showcase 2012. Nida’s signature style was also inherent in the exotic and nature-inspired motifs, which included the tree of life, the phoenix and birds.
