Govt to provide soft loans to LPC members: Khosa

Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa has said that the federal government would provide development funds for the Lahore Press Club Housing Society and ensure soft loans for homes to the journalists as per instructions of President Asif Ali Zardari.
“I will seek a meeting with Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani soon and ask him to ensure the implementation of the president’s directions by the end of this year,” he said while talking to a 16-member delegation of the Lahore Press Club (LPC) during a meeting at the Governor’s House here Tuesday. Newly elected members of the LPC called on the Punjab governor and apprised him of problems faced by the club.
The governor asked the LPC delegation to submit an estimate of the renovation of the Lahore Press Club, assuring all present that work would start soon.
Khosa said the press is the fourth pillar of the state, adding that the PPP had a firm belief in the freedom of press. He said only those societies progress and prosper in which the media is free to express its point of view.
