Five new LHC judges take oath

Five newly appointed additional judges of the Lahore High Court, one of which is a lady-judge, took the oath of office, here on Tuesday, at the LHC Judges’ lounge.
LHC Chief Justice Sh Azmat Saeed administered oath to newly appointed judges. The additional judges include Justice Abdul Sami Khan, Justice Ibad-ur-Rehman Lodhi, Justice Shujaat Ali Khan, Justice Mrs Ayesha A. Malik and Justice Shaikh Shahid Waheed. A simple and graceful oath-taking ceremony was held at the LHC Judges’ lounge where family-members of the new judges, senior judges, notable lawyers and others partook in the ceremony. After the induction of the judges, the strength of the judges has become 39 in LHC.
President Asif Ali Zardari had appointed the additional, judges, on recommendations of the parliamentary committee and judicial commission, for a ADHOC period of one year. As per the rule, if ADHOC judges perform satisfactorily, they will be confirmed as LHC judges after a period of one year.
