Turkish buses arrive at Karachi Port

Honouring the recent commitment made by Istanbul Mayor Dr Kadir Topbas to gift at least 100 busses to Punjab government’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, the busses have arrived at Karachi Port on Monday. According to sources, around 300 refurbished busses have reached the country’s port and they would be shifted soon to Lahore for plying the defined routes.
In a historic advance, Topbas had recently announced that he would gift 100 buses for the BRT project of Punjab government.
However, sources claimed that around 300 busses which are three times higher priced have arrived at the port and the contractors have asked the concerned authorities in Sindh to provide required CNG to lift the vehicles to their destinations.
Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif, had also thanked and welcomed the visiting mayor at a luncheon hosted by Sharif in Raiwind ahead of the opening of the civil work of the BRT project. He had driven a bus inaugurating the BRT project on Ferozepur Road.
It is worth mentioning here that the BRT was a 30-kilometre long road project stretching from Shahdara to Kahna. TEPA and NESPAK are the implementing agencies of the mega project while the LTC will operate buses on the specific lanes.
