Special teams formed for action against quacks

The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has launched a special drive against the sellers of unregistered and spurious medicines to ensure the quality of medicines as provided under the Drug Act 1976.
On the directions of Chief Commissioner Tariq Mehmood Pirzada and Deputy Commissioner Amer Ali Ahmed, the ICT district health office has started the drive against the quacks and sellers of spurious medicines.
In this regard, an official source said that special teams had been constituted and officials from the district health office had been assigned the task to conduct checking of medical stores, medical centres in various jurisdictions. They have been also directed to seal medical store and impound unregistered medicines in case any chemist is involved in selling spurious medicines.
The source said this drive would continue to ensure implementation and vigilance on the quality of medicines with a regular checking of the outlets.
