In yet another broad daylight robbery, two local merchants were robbed of Rs 2 million by two gunmen on Monday in the limits of Sabzi Mandi police station.
According to details, two traders of Fruit Market were on their way in a vehicle to a bank for depositing cash when two gunmen looted them at Sector 1/10 Markaz.
Sources said the muggers took the traders hostage at gunpoint and snatched the cash from them. They added the traders put resistance, but the robbers opened fire as a result of which they received bullet injuries.
The gunmen looted both the merchants and escaped in a car. The injured traders were shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for treatment.
Hospital sources told that both injured were out of danger. The injured were identified as Rehmat Ullah and Muhammad Zaman.
The robbery incidents are increasing in the jurisdiction of Sabzi Mandi and Kohsar police stations as six incidents have occurred during the last two months. When contacted, the duty officer of Sabzi Mandi police confirmed the robbery incident, saying the police had started investigations.
