A delegation of All Pakistan Agricultural Industry called on Pakistan Muslim League Senior Central leader and Federal Minister for Industries and Defence Production Ch Parvez Elahi at his residence here today and apprised him about the problems being faced by the industry.
Delegation was led by Chairman Foundry Owners Group Seth Iftikhar Ahmed and it included Atta Muhammad, Mohammad Sajid, Musawir Saeed, Ameer Hussain Seth, Shahnaz Kalsoom and Nasreen Bokhari.
PML Punjab General Secretary and Parliamentary leader in the Punjab Assembly Ch. Zaheeruddin Khan was also present.
Seth Iftikhar Ahmed said that imposition of 16 per cent sales tax by the Federal Govt. on agricultural implements is very adversely affecting more than five lac families. He said that closure of agricultural implements producing units will badly affect agriculture sector. Ch. Parvez Elahi informed the delegation that 16 percent sales tax on tractor manufacturing industry has been reduced to 5 per cent only. The Senior Federal Minister assured the delegation that their problems and grievances and demand for reduction in sales tax will be looked into sympathetically and sincere efforts will be made to resolve them. Ch. Parvez Elahi said that our mission is to make farmers prosperous and we will not allow families associated with the agricultural industry to be rendered unemployed.
