JK IV and Precision Marathon teams qualified to face each other in the finals of the Kayseria Lawn endorsed National Bridge Championship, at the Gymkhana Card Room, after overcoming the challenge put up by Century Insurance against JK 1V and Preemptors against Precision Marathon. And while the JK IV team comprising internationals Javed Khalid, Saeed Akhter, Tahir Abbas, Masood Mazhar and the husband and wife couple Mirza Shauq Hussain and Fehmina Shauq, were simply superb against Century Insurance and virtually crushed them in the three boards, resulting in an unbeatable margin of 82 imps and Century Insurance were compelled to concede the fourth board. That brought an outstanding victory for JK 1V and a tension free entry into the finals.
The semi-final contest between Preemptors comprising Ahsan Javed Qureshi, Ghias A.Malik, Safdar Mehmood, Asad Iqbal, Jahangir Ahmed and Izzat Khalil and Marathon comprising Hassan Askari, Tehsin Gheewala, Muhammed Mubashir Puri, Khaled Mohiuddin, Farrukh Liaqat and Junaid Said, was not one-sided and till the last segment it could have been anyones game. Ultimately however the Marathon team had the better of Preemptors and moved into the finals to meet the giants JK1V in a memorable encounter.
The finals will be contested over four segments, with one segment to be played late on Monday evening and three segments on Tuesday at Lahore Gymkhana with the finals overseen by international tournament director Ihsan Qadir and his associate Sarfraz Butt.
