The Lahore High Court, on Monday, adjourned till April 2nd the hearing of petition challenging the shifting of slaughterhouse from Kot Kamboh to Shahpur Kanjran and establishment of Punjab Agriculture and Meat Company (PAMC) to run the slaughterhouse.
Justice Muhammad Khalid Mehmood Khan was hearing the petition filed by Jamiat-ul Quraish Pakistan representatives Muhammad Kamran and Muhammad Shahid.
Earlier, the Punjab Government filed a reply but the court was requested on behalf of district government and commissioner Lahore to grant time to file the reply. The counsel for Punjab Agriculture and Meat Company (PAMC) also sought time to file a reply. The petitioner’s counsel did not oppose the request but said that the PAMC was illegally violating the rules and regulations. He said the establishment of slaughterhouse was the responsibility of local district government which could not be handed over to any other authority. The petitioners said that establishment of the PAMC was illegal as it did not fall under section 42 of Companies Act 1984.
The court after hearing the arguments adjourned the matter till April 2 and ordered PAMC to file reply by next date of hearing. The petitioners’ stated in their petition that they had no objection to shifting of the slaughterhouse but it should be done in a transparent manner and the stakeholder should be taken into confidence. They argued that the Allama Iqbal Town TMA had issued a letter under which slaughterhouse would be shifted to a new place till March 2012, which was illegal and a conspiracy against the business of petitioner and others.

Justice Muhammad Khalid Mehmood Khan passed the order on a petition filed by a student Aisha Sana.
Earlier, the petitioner’s counsel arguing before the court said that the petitioner was an 8th class student in the Divisional Public School, Kasur and appeared on February 11 for her examination along with two hundred other students.
