The contempt case hearing against Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has been adjourned till Tuesday as his counsel Aitezaz Ahsan was feeling unwell Monday.
A seven-member bench of the Supreme Court (SC) today commenced the contempt case proceedings in National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) Implementation case hearing; however, Barrister Gohar, the assistant of the PM’s counsel Aitezaz Ahsan apprised the court that Ahsan is down with food-poisoning; hence, he cannot travel.
Justice Nasirul Mulk, heading the bench, remarked, ‘Had he listened to us, he would not have been struck with the food-poisoning.’
On this, Gohar replied that it is a sheer coincidence; otherwise, he never missed his duty in his 40-year stint with the courts. He prayed to the bench to adjourn the hearing for at least one week.
Disregarding his plea, Justice Mulk directing Ahsan to take heavy dosage to ensure his attendance in next hearing, adjourned the hearing till today.
