The Indian Defence Ministry has given a clean chit to the Indian Army chief-designate, Lt General Bikram Singh, who was involved in a fake encounter in Islamabad district of occupied Kashmir that resulted in the killing of three civilians. A Kashmiri woman, Zaituna, a resident of Machil area of Kupwara district, in a petition filed in the High Court of the occupied territory had said that her son Abdullah Butt was killed in a fake encounter on March 1, 2001, and later branded a foreign militant, Mateen Chacha. The Defence Ministry in its objections to the petition said that the encounter was not fake and allegations leveled in this regard were just an afterthought.
