On March 23, “Freedom March” was conducted by Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) headed by Bashir Qureshi that was attended by a large number of people belonging to the province Sindh. As per media reports, they demanded independence from Pakistan.
This is not the first time they have launched such a march. One week back, another political party Jeay Sindh Tahreek (JST) headed by Safdar Sarki also brought out Million March with the same purpose. The important thing is that the number of participants in such events is tremendously increasing.
All the patriot people must be worried about the causes of such march. In the past, when people of East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) raised protests against their exploitation by West Pakistan (now Pakistan), our rulers and Karachi media both furiously reacted and labelled them “anti-Pakistan”, “anti-Islam”, “Indian agents” and so on. Now our rulers and people are shedding crocodile tears on independence of Bangladesh but obviously they are not ready to learn any lesson from the past.
Without supporting the intentions of such “Freedom March”, I would like to draw the attention of our federal government and also all members of the parliament irrespective of their political affiliation to set up a commission to look into genuine problems of people of Sindh in order to arrest them, before it is too late.
