United efforts needed to tackle conspiracies: speakers


All parties and communities of the Pakistan should get united against the enemy as internal and external conspiracies are being hatched against the country.
Speakers said this on One-day Istehkam-e-Pakistan International Arain Convention while addressing over 600 delegates from Pakistan and about 200 delegates from 32 countries here at Lahore Expo Centre auditorium on Saturday.
The speakers included PPP Secretary General Jahangir Badr, PML-Zia chairman Ijaz ul Haq, former British Parliament member Chaudhry Ghulam Sarwar, Mian Muhamamd Saeed (Deray Walay), Malik Muhammad Akbar, former World Bank advisor Dr Muhammad Afzal and Chaudhry Zulifqar.
Ghulam Sarwar said that corruption was the biggest problem of Pakistan and added that without its eradication, the goal of progress and solidarity could not be achieved.
Jahangir Badr said that community’s support was very important part of the social welfare system. He suggested All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Araiyan to support the government in education, health and social welfare projects.
Ijaz ul Haq said that PPP government had not committed contempt of the court for the first time. He added that people were waiting for the court’s decision in this case as well as other cases including memo gate scandal and NRO issue.
Other speakers discussed the issues of energy crisis, dearness, unemployment and presented proposals how they could directly or indirectly participate to help resolve these problems.
The central theme of the convention was Istehkam-e-Pakistan aiming at spreading the message of national solidarity through community support keeping in view the recent debate on Balochistan and Karachi issues and other ethnic problems faced by the country.
