Muslim Town Flyover, promised to be ready for traffic use on March 23, could partially be opened on Friday and Punjab government held load shedding responsible for the undesired delay.
While addressing the people during a briefing and inspection of Muslim Town Flyover project, Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif, said that due to bad load-shedding, not only a public welfare project like Muslim Town Flyover had been delayed but the entire country was being affected.
He said that one part of the flyover had been opened for traffic after completion whereas this project would be formally inaugurated on April 18.
Congratulating the nation on Pakistan Day, Shahbaz said that Muslim Town Flyover project was being completed speedily. He said that the Punjab government, Muslim League-N, under the leadership of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had fulfilled the responsibility of public representation by completing public welfare projects by working round the clock throughout the province. He said that development projects were being completed expeditiously in a very transparent manner. He continued that facilities would be available to the people of the area after completion of the gigantic project as a result of which economic and trade activities would be promoted. He said that 72 years ago, our elders, ulema, scholars and notables of the province had made a pledge in the public meeting presided over by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah which is being given practical shape through implementation of public welfare projects. He said that projects of infrastructure development, distribution of laptops among talented students, metro bus service, awarding of scholarships to deserving students out of educational funds were important steps towards making Pakistan a true Islamic welfare state. “Today on the historic occasion of Pakistan Day, we will have to resolve to make Pakistan a great country by removing looters and plunderers and put the country on the road to progress and prosperity by making hard work and honesty our motto.”
Earlier, CM reviewed the pace of progress of the flyover project. Secretary Communication and Works Maj (R) Azam Salman briefed the meeting about the progress of the project. A large number of people present at the occasion were delighted to see their beloved leader among them. The enthusiasm of the people was worth seeing who raised loud slogans of Shahbaz Sharif, Nawaz Sharif and PML-N Zindabad. He said that public welfare projects worth billions of rupees are an important step towards a prosperous Pakistan and there is no role of any 10 per cent in these projects.
He said that we are marching forward with sincerity and commitment for development of the country under the leadership of Mian Nawaz Sharif. He said that Nawaz Sharif would have to be brought in to save Pakistan and rid the country of thieves and plunderers.
Also present at the occasion were Provincial Minister Ch Abdul Ghafoor, Members of National and Provincial Assembly and officers of NLC and NESPAK.
