Lahore runs against dengue

Pakistan Medical Association’s, Anti Dengue Lahore Marathon, was held at Race Course Park on Friday.
It was inaugurated by the Special Advisor on Health to the Chief Minister Punjab, Khawaja Salman Rafique, on Jail Road. A large number of citizens from all sectors of life participated in the marathon and ran from Race Course Park to Siddique Trade Centre and then back.
Traffic was diverted for a short time by the traffic police, while the race was being conducted on Jail Road. Prior to the start of the race the participants were given free T-Shirts. Members of the sports board organized the race along with the activists of PMA and Mortein.
The team from Mortein distributed literature among all the participants to create awareness about the dengue fever. Later after the race a musical program was held at the park in which national songs were sung by a well known band. A large number of families, doctors and nurses attended the musical program.
Rafique was the chief guest for the prize distribution ceremony and distributed the prizes among the winners of all categories of the race. The MNA, while addressing the audience, said that PMA’s initiative of the Lahore marathon was worth appreciating. The association’s president Dr Tanveer Anwar also thanked Mortein and Punjab Govt for being a partner of PMA in the Lahore marathon and said that only the combined efforts of government, doctors and public can make the war against dengue a success.
The participants were chanting the slogan that “dengue sae darna nahein, larnnaa hai “
Later, brunch was served to all the participants.
