At least three cops were suspended by Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Gujranwala for alleged involvement in snatching money from a citizen.
According to details, Muhammad Ali, a resident of Gujranwala, blamed that three policemen stopped him near Ferozwal Bridge for not having number plate of the bike he was riding.
He alleged that the cops threatened him and then fled after snatching Rs10,000 cash.
Later when the villagers got the information of the incident intercepted the policemen in People’s Colony and brutally tortured them.
Police officials denied the charges and claimed that Muhammad Ali himself gave them the money.
However, DSP Gujranwala Wasim Dar suspended the three cops after allegations were proved. A case has also been registered against the citizens involved in beating the policemen.
