As part of its efforts to counter piracy, the FIA and Roving Source, a security concern engaged in providing trademark and copyright protection services in Pakistan, raided the shops of four major wholesalers involved in the illegal sale of pirated Oxford University Press (OUP) textbooks to booksellers and schools. During these successful raids, the proprietors of Haji Sons, New Haji Book Depot, and Hafiz Book Depot were arrested by the FIA on the charge of selling pirated books and they are being detained for further investigation. The raids resulted in the confiscation of around 1,500 pirated copies of leading Oxford textbooks. All the seized pirated books have been handed over to the authorities at Oxford University Press until such a time as a court settlement is reached. The FIA has sealed off the premises of the four wholesalers and charges of committing violation of the Copyright Laws of Pakistan have been instituted against the culprits.
