NUML promoting cultural harmony among nations, says Turkish MP

National University of Modern Languages (NUML) is playing a very effective role in connecting different nations of the world by imparting knowledge of diverse languages and promoting international harmony among various cultures by arranging people-to-people interactions.
Parliamentarian and Turkey-Pakistan Friendship Group Leader in Turkish Grand National Assembly Burhan Kayaturk stated this here on Thursday during his visit to the university.
The visiting Turkish parliamentarian met Rector Maj Gen (r) Masood Hasan and Director General (DG) Brig Azam Jamal. Head of Turkish Department Dr Zakeriya Naz also accompanied him in the meeting. Burhan was heading a delegation of Turkish officials including Turkish Ambassador Mustafa Babur Hizlan and other high officials from Pak-Turk International Education Foundation and representatives of Turkish media, business and Turkish Airlines.
Burhan told the Rector NUML that he happened to be alumni of University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore, and had also worked as an engineer in Pakistan.
Therefore, he has a very long link with Pakistan and wants that both countries develop more and more cooperation in all those areas where they can help each other, he added. He observed that he was deeply impressed by the performance of NUML as it was imparting the language learning and providing an opportunity to Pakistani and other foreign students to come and learn languages of their choice. Language proficiency has enabled NUML graduates to perform their duties effectively at different national and international organizations and assist in the business of global world, he added.
Moreover, Turkish Ambassador Mustafa Babur Hizlan told that Turkish students did not prefer to study in Britain and other western countries as it was getting very costly for them. They preferred to come and study in NUML as it had all necessary language learning infrastructure and different languages of the world were taught on modern lines.
Turkish Parliamentarian Burhan Kayaturk and Ambassador Mustafa Babur Hizlan also inaugurated Turkish Language Laboratory at Turkish Language Department and delegation of Turkish officials along with the Rector and the varsity DG also visited Turkish language classes.
He told the students that Turkish government was the cognizant of the fact that the knowledge of Turkish language, exchange of students and teachers, and people-to-people meeting could bring both brother countries closer to each other.
The Rector briefed the visiting guests about the Turkish and other departments of the university. He told the guests that he appreciated the friendly gesture of Turkish embassy and government for assisting the university in the capacity enhancement of the department. In the end, the Rector presented souvenirs and shields to the visiting officials.
