A Frontier Corps (FC) official was killed and his two children were injured when a bomb fixed in a radio set exploded at the Wana Scouts Camp in sub-division Wana of South Waziristan Agency (SWA), officials said on Friday.
The explosion took place at the house of the security official, killing him and injuring his two children. “The possible cause of the explosion was the radio set in which the bomb was kept,” official sources said.
The man killed was identified as a Frontier Corps operative. His two injured sons were shifted to Peshawar in critical condition.
Increasing improvised explosive device (IED) attacks are a troubling sign for security officials in the tribal and settled areas.
Earlier, officials had told a group of journalists that the operation “Zulfiqar-Two” began a few days back and already two major IED factories had been destroyed in Ladha, a sub division of SWA, the volatile tribal region bordering Afghanistan and former stronghold of the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) blamed for several deadliest attack in Pakistan.
