An under-trial prisoner committed suicide by hanging himself in washroom of the Malir District Courts on Wednesday, police said on Wednesday.
Riaz was arrested by the Sachal police a couple of days in a robbery case.
After the registration of an FIR against him in the Sachal police station, he was sent to the Landhi Jail
The Landhi Jail police brought him to the Malir District Courts to present him before the judicial magistrate.
The police said Riaz went to a washroom in the building and did not respond when the policemen on duty knocked at the door.
Later, it was discovered that Riaz had hung himself with the help of his izaar band tied to a window.
“This happened due to the negligence of the police personnel there and we are investigating the case,” an official at the al Falah police station told Pakistan Today.
Riaz was a Pakhtun and hailed from Waziristan.
His body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy and later handed over to the heirs.
