The Pakistan Medical Association’s anti-dengue ‘Lahore marathon’ will be held on March 23 at 8am from Race Course Park to Siddique Trade Centre and then back to Race Course Park as a part of the awareness campaign launched by the PMA to save the public from dengue fever. All the participants will be given free T-shirts, gifts and certificates of appreciation. Breakfast will also be served to the participants and the families will also be requested to attend a musical programme at the end of the event. The health experts of the association will also apprise the participants regarding the measures to save themselves from the dengue fever and pamphlets and brochures for the same will also be distributed. Cash prizes worth Rs 10,000, Rs 5,000, Rs 1000 Rs and gift hampers will also be distributed. The desk for registration has been set up outside the race course park entrance gate, PMA House 66 Ferozpur Road and also at the Liberty Market Roundabout, while banners and posters are also being placed all over the city in collaboration with the government.
Separately, Lahore Division Commissioner Jawad Rafiq has ordered the entomologists to show full performance for making the anti-dengue drive a success. He said performance report should be presented by constituting dengue surveillance teams under the supervision of entomologists in all the union councils.
