A former deputy superintendent of prisons police on Wednesday allegedly gunned down his nephew after a brief exchange of harsh words in a ceremony at Akbari Gate police area on Wednesday.
The police arrested the accused and recovered the weapon. The deceased was identified as Umair Butt, a resident of Haveli Misra, located in Androon Akbari Gate.
Station House Officer of Akbari Gate Zahid Hussain Shah said the accused Awais was taking liquor along with Umair Butt and with his few retired friends late on Tuesday night. He said both Awais and his nephew got involved in a clash with each over an unknown issue. During the clash, Umair received multiple bullets due to the firing of Awais. According to complainant Ilyas, father of the deceased, told the police that his brother Awais has killed his only son.
He said Awais and his son were taking wine with some other persons at a room when he gunned down him after exchange of harsh words.
The accused, however in police custody, has taken a stance that a bullet was fired accidentally from his gun.
MAN STABBED TO DEATH: Some unidentified accused stabbed a man to death at G Block Graveyard in Naseerabad Police area on Wednesday. Identity of the deceased was yet to be ascertained.
BRIDE KIDNAPPED: Some four unidentified kidnappers kidnapped a bride on the day of her marriage on Wednesday in Misri Shah Police area.
According to the police, some four accused at gun point kidnapped Hina from her house ahead approaching her barat. Hina was engaged to her cousin who reached Hina’s house with barat on Wednesday. Her father married his younger daughter to the cousin.
INSPECTOR CAUGHT RED-HANDED: A sub-inspector of Shafiqabad Police Station was arrested red handed by Anti Corruption personnel red handed on Wednesday. According to the police sources at the police station, officials of ACE arrested Sub Inspector Sheikh Muhammad Akhtar while taking bribe from Kashif.
They recovered Rs 5,000 from his custody which he had taken from Kashif. Circle Officer of ACE Raees Khan told that the SI was demanding Rs 25,000 from the citizen.
