Pakistan’s water reserves are depleting with each passing day and joint as well as individual efforts are required to address this problem, Sindh Environment Minister Shaikh Muhammad Afzal said in a statement issued on Wednesday. In context of the “World Water Day” that is observed on March 22 every year under the aegis of UN, the minister emphasised that the day draws our attention towards the importance of freshwater and the need for coordinated and durable water management. The minister said Pakistan, and in particular Sindh, is facing a shortage of water due to the migration of people from rural areas to urban dwellings at a massive level, contaminated underground water, etc. He stressed the need for changing habits and adaptation to such a strategy that can ensure use of water as per needs.
